Winelands Small Wedding
A thirty-guest ceremony between the vines outside Stellenbosch
The couple wanted something closer to a documentary than a wedding album, so the day was shot almost entirely on two primes and a single roll of black and white. The set follows the morning preparations, the ceremony under the oaks, and the long table dinner that ran well past sunset.
Before the day we agreed on a loose timeline and left room for the light to do its own thing. Across the afternoon it shifted from flat and grey to a hard gold edge on the vines, and that change shaped where we stood and when we moved.
How we shot it
Two primes, one on each body, and a roll of black and white for the quieter stretches. Long lenses kept distance during the vows and the speeches, so nobody felt watched.
What came back
Morning preparations, the ceremony under the oaks, and the dinner that ran past sunset. A small handful of group frames at the end, kept short so the evening could carry on.
