A few things get read differently depending on who is asking, so here is the plain version before you send a date.
Portrait, family, and small wedding bookings are counted in hours on location, not in a fixed number of delivered frames. We agree on a rough shape beforehand, then work with what the day gives us. If the light turns or a child needs a break, the schedule bends rather than the pictures.
For family and wedding coverage, most of the set is unposed. I will guide a small number of group frames if you ask, but I will not run the day. If you want a long list of arranged portraits, this is the wrong fit and I would rather say so early.
Ordering a print, a zine, or a framed piece from a recent set is its own process. It does not include a shoot, and a shoot does not include prints. Framed work comes from a limited selection and depends on what is still available at the time you ask.
Studio days happen in Woodstock. Outdoor work runs across the Western Cape, including Bo-Kaap, Sea Point, and the Winelands. Travel to Gauteng or KwaZulu-Natal is arranged on request and depends on dates, so it is discussed before anything is confirmed.
Cape Town weather moves fast. Outdoor sessions may shift to a nearby covered spot or be reworked indoors if the wind or rain makes the plan pointless. Film projects run on their own timeline and are not tied to a client schedule. Nothing here is a guarantee of a specific frame, a specific sky, or a specific number of images. What you get is a working session, edited honestly, with notes on location, light, and gear so you know how it was made.
Every option below comes with the same working rhythm: a short conversation about your date and what you have in mind, a walk-through of the location, and a set of notes on light and gear once the gallery is up. Nothing is arranged around stiff poses.
For couples and individuals who want a set that looks like them on an ordinary day. We usually meet outdoors in Bo-Kaap or Sea Point, or indoors during a Woodstock studio day when the weather turns. Roughly an hour of walking, talking, and shooting.
Ceremonies with a handful of guests, often in the Winelands or a family garden. Coverage follows the day as it happens, from morning preparations through the long table dinner, with a short list of group frames agreed beforehand so nobody is left waiting.
No shot list, no direction. We pick a route, often the Sea Point promenade or a stretch of the Winelands, and follow the children at their own pace. Most families find ninety minutes is enough before everyone has had enough of the camera.
Selected frames from recent sets and long-term film projects are available as loose prints and small-run zines. Each zine carries the same location and gear notes that appear on the project pages, so the story travels with the object.
A limited selection of framed pieces from the personal film work. Frames are chosen one at a time rather than printed to order, so the available sets shift as pieces find homes. Ask what is currently on the wall.
Studio days run in Woodstock for portraits and small indoor sets. For sessions further out, travel across Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal can be arranged on request, usually built around a date that already works for you.

Four ways to work together, from a single portrait sitting to a full documentary day. Each format has its own pace, its own gear, and its own set of notes so you know what to expect before you commit.
One person or a couple, roughly ninety minutes, usually outdoors. We pick a location together: the painted slopes of Bo-Kaap, the Sea Point promenade, or a quiet stretch in the Winelands. Shot on primes, mostly available light, with a few frames on film if you want them.
Ceremonies up to around forty guests, covered the way a documentary would be. Morning preparations, the ceremony, and the long table afterwards. Two primes and a roll of black and white, no shot list unless the family asks for a handful of group frames.
A slow walk with your family, no posing and no list of shots. We follow the kids and let the adults be themselves. Handheld, wide lens, mostly in-between moments. Works well on the promenade, in a garden, or around your own home.
